Hello everybody,

I had been a passive member of this forum, used to visit and note few important points but never contributed from my side.

I think now its time for me to say, I took my exam on 28th and 30th july, day 1 was a bit tougher than day2. Every aspect was tested thoroghly. The test has many dermatology pictures [about 10] many EKGs [about 8-10], miscellaneous pictures like diabetic foot, chronic venous stasis ulcer, keloid, dermatomyositis, rubella and many X-RAYs & CTs, mostly chest x-rays, abd xrays, ankle& foot xrays, leg xrays, ct scans of abdomen, in total about 10-15 radiology pictures.

you can always infer for the description in addition to the picture, all were doable except for a few EKGs coz i'm not well versed with them.

I was tested more of Internal medicine, moderate number of pediatrics & surgery, few gynobs & psychiatry.

All the questions [about 90%] are doable thoroughly in case you are well prepared with step2 ck kaplan material [for all 5 subjects] and UW MCQs and CCS cases go thru UW MCQs & CCS ateleast twice to ACE the exam, this is my sincere advice. FIRST AID is an addition to this which covers key points and some important miscellaneous topics.

All the CCS cases I had in the exam were from UW CCS.

Time management is crucial, so practice few tests in the timed mode on UW and pace yourself. That will help u a lot in the exam.

And practice CCS cases on the US MLE CD CCS SOFTWARE BY WRITING THE ORDERS ON A PAPER, that will help you remember what you have done and what more u have to do..... I did it on the erasable board given in the exam, by noting the pertinent positives in the case and the investigations that i want to do and the TREATMENT that is to be given after i got the results of the investigations that I ordered. PRACTICING ON A PAPER IS THE KEY, besides preparing thoroughly, coz you need to pace in the actual exam, all you have to manage in a 15 min time period after going thru the CC, VITALS, HPI & PE [this will take 4-5 mins].

So finally I would say definitely the exam is TOUGH but it is DOABLE in case you are well prepared for it with the materials I already mentioned.

ONE MORE IMPORTANT POINT IS I HAD MANY REPEAT QUESTIONS FROM THE STEP3 QUESTIONS GIVEN IN THE US MLE ORIENTATION CD. AND ALL THE CONCEPTS OF THE QUESTIONS IN THE ORIENTATION CD WERE TESTED IN THE EXAM...........EVERYBODY PLEASE NOTE THIS POINT, we are used to do those Qs in the US MLE CD as an evaluation guide and do it just before we take the exam. MY SUGGESTION IS TO DO IT EARLY DURING PREPARATION AND STRESS ON THOSE CONCEPTS WHILE YOU STUDY OTHER MATERIALS. This will help you a lot.

Ok guys, this is what my perception is regarding step3 as far as my experience is concerned.

Good Luck to all those who are about to take the test. Shall wait for my results........hope I pass. Please wish me Good Luck for my RESULTS.

STUDY WELL.
