First plz confirm this.. Most C cause of acute--> St Aur / Most comm cause of subacute--> Strept Virid/ MC Cause in prosth V--> Staph Epider In FA, they r saying that in Bavterial endocarditis, u should start emperical abs at once untill culture results..However they r saying to give Vancomycin or Ceftriaxone + Gentamycin.. From what I know, Staph aureus is the most comman cause & Ceftriaxone doesn't cover it so I don't think thats right??????????? In Kaplan they r saying to give triple ab: Oxacill, naf, clox, diclox (for staph) + Penicillin G, ampicillin (for strept) + Gentamycin. I think that covers eveything untill cultures r ready, so what do u think?????

def. i will go with Kaplan, but first Aid said so bcoz the staph aureus inf is mostly in I/V drug abusers so vancomycin will cover it.

thx guys,I think that in FA they assumed that when using the combinat of Ceftriax & gentamycin, Genatmycin will still cover staph, but if my memory doesn't fail me. conrad fis asked us not to fall into this, as yes it does cover staph, but NO its not used for staph infec.. Ill stick to kaplan too..
