A nasopharyngeal swab obtain from a 4 month old infant with rihinitis and paroxysmal coughing tested +tve upon da Bondetella pertusis. He wa admitted to da hospital for therapy with an antibiotic that inhibits da translocation of peptidyl-tRNA on 70S ribosomes. The patient wa most likely treated with

A-----tetracycline
b-----chloramphenicol
C-----rifamycin
D-----erythromycin
E-----actiomycin D

with explainationsad

I guess......

Its D

?shaking head

  #3

b-----chloramphenicol = 70S

A-----tetracycline - 30S

C-----rifamycin = DNA dependent RNA Polymerase Inhibitor

D-----erythromycin = 50S

E-----actiomycin D = DNA dependent RNA Synthesis.

i believe its Erythromycin

tetracyclines inhibit Elongation by inhibiting binding of aminoacyl tRna to ribosome

aminoglycoside inhibit Initiation by binding to 30s

erythromycin inhibit TRANSLOCATION by binding to peptidyl trna on 70 s

Chlorampgenicol inhibit PEPITDYL TRANFERASE ENZYME part of large subunit 50s ,so chloramphenicol doesnt bind to 70s,rther inhibit translocation by binding to enzme in 50 s

cholaramphenicol inhibt PEPTIDYL transferase biniding 70s

rifampin inhibit RHO factor and hence prokaryotic Rna polymerase

actinomycin inhibit both eukaryotic and prokaryotic

NOTE PLEASE CORRECTION ,THE LINE ADDED MISTAKELY(cholaramphenicol inhibt PEPTIDYL transferase biniding 70s) THIS IS WRONG

Yes U R Right Dr. Ruman i made An Essential Mistake. Didnt read teh Question Properly and i sincerely hope that i dont do the same in the Exm.

Chlorophenicol Indirectly INHIBITS the TARANSPEPTIDATION by Blocking Amioncayl moiety of Charged tRNA molecule on the mRNA complex which is a 70S Complex.

Macrolides and Clindamycin Act via the INHIBITION OF TRANSLOCATION OF THE PEPTIDYL tRNA on the 50S subunit of the mRNA complex.

I still do not understand your point. Whats with the 50s and the 70s?
