guyz, after going through all the test-taking, interviewing and eventually matching 'stress' i think the most important factor is the interview-day. and therein lies the rub: you have to get interviews. 1-write a SPLENDID ps. not bullshite as yeah my grandmum was so ill, i wanted to become a doctor from childhood, i love to heal. bloody hell, your ps must be unique, different, write something that nobody would expect. and it must be very well written. no grammar, syntax or other mistakes. it has to be read by at least 2 native english speakers. 2-cv. must show that you like all aspects of medicine, this is very important in FAMILY MEDICINE. do electives/clerkships as a student or observerships/... after ur own country grad in different fields (med, surg, paeds, obgyn, behave sience...), if possible try to also work at a fam med office/gp's office. if you have some research-exp or even presentations or publications: man you gonna ROCK since not many fam med applicants have this. 3-usce/us-lor's, i only had 3months of us, 1 month can and just one uslor. 4- somehow i feel the PS and a 'multi-speciality' CV are more important than great scores. of course the closer to double 99 the better. but 80plus should be more than enough for lots of places to get a call from. man double 99 doesnt mean you make a great doctor, not AT ALL. AND then the INTERVIEW DAY. 1.dress well. 2.be on time. 3.be nice and friendly to everyone you gonna meet. from CEO to the cleaning lady. 4.at every interview you attend, in your head you must feel that you wanna come into THIS program. not the one you attended 2 days ago which was great. no the one you are attending NOW will be your no ONE. 5. BE SO FRIENDLY TO EVERY RESIDENT YOU MEET. TALK and ASK QUESTIONS: not too much and not to less- find a medium. dont ask silly questions. go through q's before that and try to ask something when noone else does. be modest, smile. the fellow residents have also their say in picking their future colleagues. 6.show at the interview with the PD and other faculty your major interest in that program. what are the unique characteristics of that prg, tell them. ' i like this prg, because of.../this prg is so strong because...' you have to know the prg on your iv-day. no bullshitting like 'oh i love buffallo, beautiful city'. 7.tell them you love to teach, to do research. tell them about your teaching and research experiences, do so in a enthusiastic way. the pd should thing 'man this is gonna be a boost to our program if that bloke matches here' 8.be prepared to answer q's: 'tell me a situation where you solved a problem', 'tell me a situation where you showed leadership', 'why usa?', 'why this prg?'...... 9.be prepared to ask q's. 10. be polite, self-confident but also modest. AFTER the IV... write a THANK YOU e-mail to ALL you iv'ed with and to the residents you met, 1 day after the iv is a good time. write a Follow Up letter stating your interest again around 2 weeks later and also end of january. GOOD LUCK to everybody, and let me tell you: family medicine rocks!!!!!!!

thanks guys. :-) dolly. well, i thought its maybe the best to answer the standard reply "i do too many things at one time", i added sometimes "in terms of specialities it's obgyn, i haven't had much exposure to that field. your FM prg lays also emphasis on obgyn and i want to gain as much as possible exp in that field"
