Live vaccines result in infection but not disease, and confer the most long-lasting immunity
Live vaccines typically are attenuated so that while they can still cause infection, they have a reduced propensity to cause disease

Whole-killed vaccine (“dead” vaccine)
These “dead” vaccines do not result in infection and therefore do not produce as robust an immune response as live vaccines (particularly lacking is cytotoxic T cell-mediated immunity against intracellular pathogens), but if boosted by subsequent natural infection by the same pathogen can produce long-lasting immunity

Does CMI occur only in case of intracellular pathogen?
