hi everyone. I found this forum after taking my step 1 and wished i had found it earlier.... I am an old IMG(5yrs), and have just got my score for step 1. i just passed with a 75 percentile and I am shattered. now this blocks me from taking the exam again and also cuts down my chances of getting a residency.after hesitating for a whole yr I decided in jan to go for it....I also took my CS and results are awaited . i had wished to apply this yr and was studying for my step2 already, but I think I should back out now and not take step 2. Dont feel like giving it up....but I feel thats the best option. are there any chances of me getting residency If i try and make up for such low scores in my step2. looking forward for hearing from you guys

hey there. i know it can't feel too good getting your score. but, what's done is done. there's simply no option but to dust yourself off, and get going coz there's lots more to do. like acing step 2!! am certain you'll do better in step 2. after all you're in prep4usmle now!! do know what brilliant scores people here have got?? with that rubbing off on you, and the hard work you're going to put in, an enviable score is inevitable for you. Dont feel like giving it up.... so DON'T!! i intentionally did not quote the second part of your statement, coz it's not worth reinforcing. good luck. keep at it.

Here is a High Yield fact (high yield in life) Most Common avoidable cause of anxiety - worrying about things that are beyond your control You got your score. Now you cannot do anything about it. Focus all your energies on what to do next. Step 2, CS etc. Avoid anxiety. Anxiety leads to stress, fatigue, ulcers and all the rest - including social repercussions. So think about what to do in future.

Thanx a lot . One thing that I would like to add was that my prep was pretty good. I had a average of 52% on UW and I knew my FA inside out. But to my surprise my exam was full of mol bio, cell bio , biochem and genetics.I had hardly anything from physio path or pharm.
