Dear bbb or anyone who can throw some light in this aspect.

I am in a crunch situation unable to decide between 2 options. Being an IMG wid a 99 on step 1/ CS passed 1st time & yet to take CK.
Due to the new rule that exam results for CK from Aug 3rd get delayed to Sept 19th, I wanted to know how much would be the loss [as per no. of calls] applying about 20 days late. Would I be at a disadvantage in view of this technical delay.
I am confronted wid a difficult choice of applying on Sept 1st wid a 90-94 score or on Sept 20th wid a 95+ score. Which one do you think is better?
I must add that I'm 2005 grad wid no US LORS/USCE/GC......need H1b/J1

Or should i apply incomplete on Sept 1st.

Any Help is much appreciated....Thanx a Lot.

Oops, I found it. They are making changes to the question pool- meaning an additional delay for the score report.

as for your question- see this thread:

Thanx a lot for the link Medicus....that clarifies most of my concern.but I still need clarification regarding how many calls would I lose applying late.
Sorry to bother , 'coz I still got an option of taking CK & applying on Sep 1st. though compromising my score somewhat.

I am going to definitely lose something, but wanna know which loss is better.
*Loss due to somewhat less score & applying early (or)
*Loss due to applying late in Quantity of Quality of i.v. calls.

That I don't know...I am not sure anybody can give you a specific answer. It depends on the specialty, the region, the program...there are just sooo many variables. I am kind of in the same situation. My last exam is Aug 11(step1) - so I know I can't apply on Sep1, my scores will probably arrive early SEP(I am in the US). But I am totally comfortable about applying with a complete application(incl. certificate) in mid SEP...I don't know how much I am going to loose and currently I don't care - I will not reschedule my exam anyway. So, I guess is up to you....

What if you take your exam 2 days earlier? Not on AUG 3, but AUG 1? That will mean you still have the "normal" score reporting time.Or have you scheduled for mid AUG? Just a thought...

Yup verified with ECFMG
They say by all means CK taken till 2nd would be reported in usual 3-4 wks comfortable enough for applying on 1st.

Lets hope for the best......All the Best for exam & Matchnod

So why can't you apply with a 99 in step one? Do you think that will hurt your application?

With all due respect.....U mean an application early with a 99 & 'moderate' CK score?

drplacebo...

dude...u hav a 99 in step 1...so as bbb puts it...its not gonna harm you if you apply wid only dat score on sept 1...as for for ck score...sept 20th is just fine in my opinion...remember...scores once in hand cannot be changed....so try the best u can for the ck i think..neways...U DECIDE!!!!!!
