Are supposed to do an endocervical curettage in a pregnant woman? Kaplan notes say: p. 104: Endocervical sample obtained with a cytobrush in the nonpregnant woman or cotton tipped applicator in a pregnant woman. p. 108: ECC is not performed during pregnancy *there is increased vascularity during pregnancy and there IS a risk of bleeding, but if the woman has to be evaluated for cervical cancer why do we NOT do ECC? If colposcopy and biopsy are ok in pregnancy, why not ECC too?

i think u mixed it up, the first one ( ECC) is for Pap smear, & in preg, the use the cotton tip. in case of abnormal, u do colposcopy & biopsy ONLY FROM THE ECTOCERVIX, no biop from endocervix
