What is a confounder?

a confounder is something that may itself cause the condition you are studyng ' such as you are studying the effect of alcohol on a particular condition but then a lot of people in the group are also smokers so then again you cannot be sure that the condition was due to alcohol alone. this confusion is called confounding, confused = confounded is a good way of remebering it, you say did this cause the disease or did that.damn! i am confused,that is confounding!smiling facesmiling facesmiling face
