does anyone know where can i find a list of shortage of skilled personnel for each country? I am from India and I wld like to know that if i take a j1 and fund my self. is that 2yr hrr clause applicable to me under this skills thingie?

thx fox. Can u answer one more query? Most probably i will start in november (my research on j1 ) Do u think i can get a waiver before by june/july 2008 if i apply for after match day ?

fox what country are u from? because i finally found the skills shortage list and the list for my country doesnt include medical research. So , maybe the case varies according to the country of origin. plz let me know what country u are from...it is really imp for me because i have to make a decision real fast!

in pakistan, this skills thing, is merely a formality...don't know abiut india and misty if your research contract is only for six seven months tops, then i seruously advice you against j1 research visa, stay on b1/b2 instead, yu don't want to fall out because of technical problems good luck
