Okay, I just dug through ERAS from last year and look at about 25 applications. Of those, three had the AAMC number typed in it, 6 had it handwritten in, the rest didn't have it at all.
Good luck.

Address the letter to "Dear Program Director;" not to each individual program director.ERAS will not process letters with individualized salutations.

Include in your letter whether or not I have waived my right to see this recommendation, asindicated below.

Include my name and AAMC ID, as listed above, in the subject line or body of the letter.

Print your letter so that it may be scanned and added to my files.

Attach this sheet to your letter before sending it, to help the ECFMG identify your letter withmy file.

Write your letter on official institutional letterhead and manually sign the letter in “colored” inkother than black ink.

Finally, please deliver the letter to ECFMG at the address below.

will it hurt too much ? i i dont have the aamc id ?
bbb did u people give any preference/ more importance to letters with the aamc id ? or is it just limited to the eras people ? once it reaches a program the aamc id means nothing ?

i have heard that 3 lor's are needed per specialty ,that means 6 in all, but according to the instructions for applying only 3 are allowed ... i want to spply in internal med and paediatrics ... what should i do ... send 6 or 3 .

  #12

also i have a us lor which is in addition to the other lors which i received from my college(which are 6 in all) . should this be a part of the "3 lor's" or it should be considered an additional thing

Send the 6 and when you send out you applications assign the 3 letters for each specialty that you are applying for. Also the limit is 4 not 3. GL

If the AAMC number isn't on it, it means nothing....Like I wrote, some people had it hand written on the letter.
