ECFMG-ERAS NEWS #01. Friday, May 30, 2003

In this issue:
1. ERAS 2003 has ended
2. Our new ERAS site with Frequently Asked Questions
3. How to communicate with us via email
4. No printed ERAS manual and no document ID stickers

Dear Doctor or Doctor2b:

1. ERAS 2003 has ended.
All data has been purged from the system and all documents have been shredded. Nothing will be carried over to ERAS 2004.

If you matched and are going to start your residency in July, you
may want to consider leaving this list.

If you need to re-apply via ERAS 2004, you need to request a new
Token and submit new documents.

2. Our new ERAS site with Frequently Asked Questions.
You will notice that we have re-designed our FAQ pages to give you a better overview of all the topics we cover. The address is still the same:
www.ecfmg.org/eras. Just rest the cursor over the little FAQ button in upper left corner of the
screen to see the menu of questions.

3. How to communicate with us via email.
Most important: Please enter your USMLE ID or AAMC ID in the Subject line.
When we sort our incoming email by Subject line, we can tell immediately
which emails are from applicants and which is junk mail.

By having your USMLE number we also can see your status, which may help us to answer your question. We can see which exams you have taken already or whether you have registered at MyERAS already, and therefore we can give you more precise answers.
So please enter your USMLE number in the Subject Line.

To eliminate the threat from viruses, we do NOT open any email attachments.
Therefore, please do not send us any screen prints, documents to be scanned or your calling cards. We will delete them without exception.

4. No printed ERAS manual and no document ID stickers.
The ERAS folks have decided not to print a manual this year, but to make an online manual available at http://www.aamc.org/students/eras/start.htm
under Applicant Support.

We have done away with the document ID stickers. They did not help much in the past. Your documents should have your name on them plus, as additional identification, your ID number, either USMLE or AAMC. Please hand-write the number on your documents or make up your own labels.

Please do not push the "Reply" button. Your message will get lost in
cyberspace. The fastest way to communicate with us is by email to
eras-support@ecfmg.org . If you are receiving this message in error or wish to un-subscribe from this newsletter, simply logon to http://www.ecfmg.org/eras/erasnews.html, enter your email address and push the "Leave the List" button.
