"The need for social readjustment is directly correlated with increased risk of medical and psychiatric illness; in studies by holmes and Rahe, (Social Readjustment Rating Scale) 80% of patients with a score of 300 pts in a given year became ill during the next year."

And then there is a table listing some life events and their corresponding points given, because some events are overlapping, such as you cannot have death of a spouse and divorce at the same time so there aren’t many to choose from.

So, just give you an example of how to almost get 300 points in a year,

Death of a spouse (100)
Death of a close family member (63)
Job loss (47)
Assuming major debt (31)
Child leaving home (29)

And that is only 270 points. It doesn’t come as a surprise that ppl getting over 300 points become ill. It just seem so obvious that I need to tell you guys that.

Btw am I posting too many questions?
