Got my step 3 result today. Was expecting a low pass but was pleasantly surprised to have a decent score as well. My preparation was for 4-5 months on and off while doing an observership. My prep resources were- FA : good for review. Not a good source for ccs. Crush : I feel is overhyped. Almost similar content as FA and covers only the basic facts. Most of it we already know. Usmleworld : Great source for CCS . I also did mcqs and was averaging around 56% 1 month before exam. I could only finish 300 questions before the subscription ran out. I personally do not feel that I benifitted from these MCQ's as they do not resemble the original exam format except the software. Usmleworld tend to focus on latest studies and researches, many of them irrelevant, and also frequently test complex medical problems not commonly encountered in actual practice. Rather in real exams they are focussed on detailed and micro-management of common medical problems as well as their continuing management. Washington manual of medical theraputics : A good source for detailed study. I was also considering buying Washington manual of outpatient medicine but did not had enough time to study it. NBME : scored 380 around 4 weeks before exam. I feel a score of 350 immediately before exam can be a assurance of a pass. USMLE cd : aggregate was 76% 1 month before exam. Regarding all the preparation, I feel one thing that helped me most was the US clinical experience. I had the opportunity to work with a doctor in the outpatient setting and it was a valuable experience. We routinely discussed all interesting cases, often having to look up on the internet for what to advise the patient etc. This experience made me comfortable with outpatient qs and it was one of the reasons why I did not bought Washington manual of outpatient medicine. And it showed up in my performance report as well, with a high performance in office setting. My exam experience was horrible on first day. Missed many questions due to lack of time. There would be around 10-15 questions where I answered the qs without reading the qs itself i.e just guessing from the options. Missed 1-2 qs completely. Second day was much more comfortable. Blocks were shorter, more breaks, and especially CCS was a breeze. I found the CCS cases to be straightforward and all patients were feeling better and all cases except one ended early. On average a case would end in 10-15 minutes. Then I would enter final orders and diagnosis before exiting that case. I did made some mistakes as well which I later regretted. If you are unable to arrive at a diagnosis in CCS, dont panic, continue the management in systematic manner, sooner or later you will arrive at a diagnosis based on some test result. Ofcourse practice with the software and experiment with the search option few days before the test. Overall I scored high in outpatient medicine, CCS, applied specific concepts (whatever that means), respiratory and GI. I scored low or borderline in Legal and ethical, ER, behaviour/emotional, skin/connective. CCS Tip: Do not hesitate to do a urine pregnancy test in all sexually active females of reproductive age regardless of symptoms, or before prescribing antibiotics etc. It is a routine in actual practice as well. I hope this helps.

Thank you for your comments. I cannot comment on Kaplan qbank as I did not do it. I had some old step 2 kaplan qs and I revised some of them. I also frequently refered to emedicine.com during my observership as well as for Obs-Gyn prep- My weak area. Happy to meet you too, carvedilol80 .
