I received my STEP 1 score today: 213 / 88 I took 59% on Qbank (and by all means I was doomed to a less than 80 score based on all predictions that I have seen); as you can imagine I was really disappointed and expecting the worst. I spent almost all of the time before the exam re-reading the explanations and simultaneously looking into FA and MedEssentials (and reading information that was on the entire page where I would look just for a fact). I did that for almost all of the questions, including ones that I got right. (I would look and read about the other answers that were planted in the question). I basically owe my score to those 2000+ Qs from Qbank + explanations. Oh, I need to mention that I took the Qbank for 1 month, and after that I had another 3 weeks until the exam. Studying for me was a little harsh since I have a full time job and an infant daughter. So I would basically wake up at 4-5 am, study about 3 hours, then get the babysitter and then go to work. In the evening I would study for another 1-2 hours. I had, however, thanks to my lovely wife, at least one or even two full days in weekends. I had this schedule for about 7-8 months, from Oct 2006 till the exam date Jun 06, 2007 and I gained 25 lb. One thing I need to mention, my full-time “job”: I am a graduate student doing my PhD in biological chemistry, so I did pretty well on questions on tRNA, Western blots, DNA transformation, plasmids, etc. They probably helped my score a lot; To summarize: Qbank 59%...DESPERATION…exam score prediction (forums): 79-80…worked really hard 3 weeks before the exam, reading only the Qbank answers and FA and MedEssentials (directly related to answers)…EXAM score 88 I am a happy guy looking now towards step 2.

each person's journey is so different, but all with same aim. it's great to see how differently each handles it and earns a well-deserved score at the end. good job!
