This is my first post in this forum. But i have been following this forum since i finished my exam and started developing intermitent palpitations from anxiety...
I am an IMG from Nigeria, graduated in 2004. I studied effectively for 6months. I used kaplan dvds and notes ...ALONE. I had goljan audio lectures but i never got around to listening to it. I registered for 3months kaplan qbank but i did a mere 30% this was because when i registered i hadnt done too much of reading and so i was always depressed when i did the qbank. It made me feel like an idiot so i didnt do much ............I became more disapointed when my subsciption expired.
I had my first aid for 2 years but i only read 10% of it .....
So how did i pass.........The Grace of God . God was my help. I worked had too . I must have put in about 35hrs per week.I went thru my Dvds once generally, did physio about 2ce, did neuro anatomy 2ce, the last round of neuro days befor the exam this was very helpful for me.I didnt do any Nbme, i didnt want to be discouraged at all. My belief is this,.. eventually what matters is that exam day and the exam questions.
The week before my exam was the most trying for me, i was so agitated.I wanted to revise everything at once. I only read my pharmacology once thru out i never got around to reading it again.The day of the exam, i felt so unprepared, i thought about all the other students who would be better prepared than i. I decided to trust in Jesus and not be discouraged.
Block 1.... the first questions i encountered were like ''greek''to me
In all i had a lot of neuroanatomy, physiology and pathology questions, a lot of basic pharmacology especially the graphs....antagonism and agonist.A couple of funny pharmacology questions which left me dazzed.After the exam i had an headache.
BUT in all if i have to give any advise to anyone who hasnt done this exam it is this......Trust God, never ever give up even during the exam. With God, it is never over until u say so.
I am so happy, i can now talk to all my relatives and friends that i have been dodging because they keep asking me when i will finally take my exam.
I got 92, it feels like a 99 to me because i know what i went thru and how prepared i was ..... thank God. I want to thank everyone in this forum especially gogeta that have been a source of encouragement to me since i wrote my exam.
Exam date....... 28th of june
got my result today. i didnt try the oasis trick. I was too scared to.

Congatulations! Very inspiring exam experience..Friends & relatives part is so true! Wonder why always people are so bothered about WHEN ARE WE TAKING THE EXAM????
I wanna stay AWAY from such people!

oh u r soo rite... but if the ppl r ur own relatives then u cant even stay away from there.. like my aunt.. always discouraged me so much.. by saying u r just wasting ur time.. its so tough now .. eetcetcc..
how much i wanted to avoid them.. but even my own mother stresed me out.. by asking all the time when r u taking it.. tak it soon take it soon... just didnt know where to run
and 3 days before exam again my aunt depresed me.. n i spent my day crying instead of revising.. coz i had to go to stay at her place as my exam was in tht place..
