hey, unfortunately i just received the news that i failed step 1. i was wondering if anybody has any information about live step 1 preparation courses. if you attended a live course i'd love to hear about your experience. all advice is greatly appreciated.

Did you practice with the DVD's the first time???, if not, you could save money in live lectures if yu get the DVD's.
But I am guessing you know by now about kaplan, so just google kaplan medical and you will find locations and costs.
But again, if you want you could post your study material, maybe there was something missing, did you do usmleworld?

yes, i did usmleworld. i believe my main problem was that i didn't have a study partner and often found myself falling behind my study schedule. i'm really looking for something that will help me stick to my study schedule and keep me focused for 6 or 7 weeks. has anybody heard reviews for kaplan's live prep? is it good/worth the money?

if cannot study self , live or center prep good, will find partner there too . But for live , better read ahead to be able to follow the teachers.
If dvd home , do it fast or regular to familial with subj or write notes then go for live.
Center then live after is best combo, most IMg american did .Then keep studying with Q with all notes fr dvd, & live .
Kap will make you study for sure with good study environment with all IMG , AMG , AMS , IMS studying there & you will respect your study with big money you've invested .

Also if want, better ask where is your favorite teacher like Dr Golj will teach , also Dr Raymond , so ask teachers for each subj .

There are more kind of Live lectures, the basic one is like 9 weeks, I think. You would need to look into Kaplan medical web page for more details.
I attended only the center prep course, but when I met the people from live lectures, they could swear on them. Everybody loved it.
They are costly, but when the money are not a problem, go ahead. The gain is you are under pressure to study, able to find a live partner, .....
But on the end, with a strong will, support of this forum, maybe starting the journal, finding online study partner....

Hello everyone!
I just got my score and it is 181/73. Of course I was disappointed, but tried to see it from a positive side. I will try to score higher this time.
If any of u have some tips for my preparation I will appreciate it.
I did kaplan qbank, videos and books, brs for pathology and FA, and some other books.
My original plan was to take all the steps by the end of the year but with this I don't know if will be posible, what do u think?

Yoga, standard live prep same price as 3 mo center prep.
That live prep st 1 takes 6 to 7 week .
If money is no matter the retreat or longer prep are better , like delux [ live & center combo ... go for center then live ] or 16 week , etc .
Recently some claim fail though attend kap . But even med school , we all attend class , but without study , no one pass , that's the rule.
Will tell you more , pm you , cause moderator, admin does not like kap link , kap here .

ps I am not from kaplan & got nothing from them , just ordinary Dr, prep for usmle, & like to help others .

What exact is pass program, where it is, how it teach, the cost, how long is the cousre?
Who are the teachers ?
Friends has the course in dvd like kap , only see one , looks like class teaching in school .
Will wait for your course , I am curious.
But now you can still share the Q I ask & etc re this program.

the PASS program is a live prep course similar to Kaplan. it is located in illinois. the cost varies depending upon the amount of time you intend to study. courses range from 4, 6, 8, and 12 weeks. the teachers are listed on the PASS program website (google "pass program usmle"), although their CV's are not provided. if you want to know more about the program i would encourage you to visit their website. i'll share my experiences after i complete the program. good luck!
