I have just cleared my step 1 exam and am now starting step 2ck preperation. But i look completely lost. I do have kaplan books, but is there a wise way to start this prep. I think i do have kaplan DVD's . I know UW questions are must but before all that what would be a effective way to start the prep and go on. ANy other sources that i should be refering would also help me a lot. I have wasted a lot of my time taking step 1 exam and i dont want to repeat the same here. So first thing i am doing is asking your valuable advice and suggestions. ANy links for previous posts asking this type of question are most welcome. Although i would keep look in the forum for answers but if anyone can spare some thoughts please help me . Thanks and good luck

im on your same boat with the exception that i didnt do step 1 yet... i was told to review kaplan lecture notes first very quickly and then keep doing usmle world while revising the notes again and also crush is useful.. recently i was told first aid is better but im confused..

but i think according to the posts that i read if we stuck to kaplan lecture notes and usmle world it is more than enough..

if you have any other suggestions pls tell me

From what i know usually people tend to prepare studying kaplan lecture notes inside out +/- videos (I did them and found them useful except ped and IM Fischer's lecture but a lot of other people just read the notes) + UW qs first in timed mode/unused/46qs reading explanation and taking notes possibly in 1-2 line sentences on a different notebook per each subject, and then redoing only marked/wrong qs. According to what I heard 60-70% cumultavie score on UW is good; >70 is great. A lot of people also use FA as a last review, but I didn't use it and don't know. Kaplan q bank is not good: a way too easy. If you choose to do some q from it, aim for 80-85 % at least. Someone has passed just doing FA and UW but had a strong clinical background. If you have that, it would help you a lot. Unfortunately my clinical exp is poor so I am doing kaplan + UW. Good Luck

Thank you both Lena02 and Virgola82.....From what i have reading in the forums and now from your write up i see that Kaplan and uw should do the trick. So here i go ....I am starting with GI today...I will see if i can just read may be i should watch the video...In any case i am starting it this evening. ...Good luck to you both

so we do a first read and then goto UW or just start uw right way?

hi everybody..me too have taken the step 1, and now trying to get started with ck.so its a general consensus that let start with kap notes...wat i wanna ask is the DVDs are as important as in step 1???i mean after step 1 every 1 has got a bit idea abt the basics , so the DVDs are the must?? or not???ALSO some ppl talk abt blueprints 4 gynae, is kap sufficient or not?? kz its better to stay intact with one book rather reading multiple and then confused at the end..???

every answer will be welcomed..and lets b intouch!kz i guess moral support is v.imp for these exams!!waiting for kind and sincere replies!!!!Wish u All The Best Of Luck!smiling face

hi

from what i read here in the forum and my studies up to now i find usmle world and kaplan notes more than enough....

im using usmle for studying not for assessment ...

for instance i started of with surgery and what i do i go over 20 questions on tutor mode and revise them with kaplan and add any notes near the topic in kaplan...in the end i will do usmle world timed mode and see plus nbme i think is enough for assessment..

i dont know about you guys but i get motivated when i read via questions.... its boring to just go through papers on a book...

i dont know if im in the right track....and any suggestions welcomed....
