anyone fighting the urge to read harry potter & da deathly hallows?!! It's out in another 12+ hrs n' i'm goin crazy...
my husband ordered for one that comes out at midnight but is now cancelling it coz he's afraid i'll trying reading the 750 pg book & ruin my studying...ugh, which is probably true, hubby blames harry potter for ruining our honeymoon  i'd take it to bed every night

you know, i was planning to start a thread on this too, coz am so excited. it is a bit distracting, but am planning to wait outside the bookstore nevertheless, waiting for it to open doors. it should be worth it.
the big coincidence with you was that the shocker in book 6 was ruined for me too by a friend!! am staying faaaaar away from her this time, till i get to the end!

Pl pl , exm is priority . So even order the book , do not read. He did the rt thing for 1st p.
I shut down TV, news, ph line [ not technically ].
With big family here, we had already spend alot of our time, instead of devoted to our study including me.
If you do not see, hear, there will be no temptation at all , like new RR path , FA 2007 , Robin R all I bought b4 e books out here  , though plan is only to pick up RR path at book store. But when you see them 3 , nice books, you pick them up all.
So the point is , if you see the Harry Potter book at home, you will ends up read all 750 over & over, instead of your study that 750 page in study will means alot to your score .
Save h.Potter for Residency night call read , just kidding, read after this exm , not all steps if you have time for next steps.
If you tax any one who will tell you the last of the book , I doupt it they will tell . Tax high money , so no one will dare to tell . or Tax by get their all H.Potter books they have.

Did you guys know catholic believers who suffer from major depressive disorder have a lower incidence of committing suicide than Protestants? Why? I don’t know. But what I do know is that you shouldn’t read harry potter, bc its for kids and I’m quite certain most of us are adults here.

If im not mistaken my younger brother read all the previous ones and i thought he wasted his time. After that when i started hearing about it in the media and how people are reallly crazy about the character i was like  . Any way, the same thing happened after the De Vinci Code was released. I ddnt know about it at first but suddenly i found out that people were craaazy about it (60 million copies world wide) so, i went ahead and bought it. It took me so long to complete it. Sure i ddnt like the content or the authers beliefs. I found the feminsim thing in it sicking ( dont get me wrong here! im with equality but that doesnt mean that we have to have a female God!!! Who said God was male any way !!! God is so superior to all this creature thing). The end of the story was tooo jammed with too many unexpected scenes. That was the first book of that kind that i have ever read. I admit it was so attractive and a couldnt put it down. The whole time i just wanted to know what was going to happen. The guy who wrote the book is so talented and maybe "too talented" but unfortunantly some of the content was repulsive, like when he made adultery with a white beautiful lady "something spiritual"!!!. That is why i said maybe the guy is too talented he can so easily plant bad ideas in the poor guys reading his books with out enough previous knowledge neither the ability to extract the truth from the false in his books.
What i would like to know (cuz im new to these things) are there other books that are that attractive and pull you so strong to the different events happening in the story? is that usual in these kinds of books? is that why people tend to read these books?
I never thought that any auther would actually be able of pulling me that much to his writing in spite of the content that i ddnt really agree with.
Finally, i hope on day medical book authers get as talented!

dear shwe, thanks for your well worded advice. but i'm so hooked ,i think i'll keep h. potter 25th read for residency night call!! simply put, until i read the book, i won't be able to sleep well, so my idea is why not just read it once, get it over and done with, then get back to my real sweet heart[for the time being], my pharmac text!! anyway, since i read very fast[novels anyway], i should be done in about 6 hrs or so.hopefully....i may try and savor it slow, like askdoc said!

i got the book!! woo hoo!! my hubby suprised me w/ it....
n' harry potter, for kids? uh nooo....all around the world, the adults are more fascinated w/ harry potter than kids themselves...j.k. rowling has a brilliant imagination
as for religion, well, i'm a muslim & i know my that only the weak hearted can only even actually think that the book can influence you in any way or form...harry potter series are real good reads...& the same for di vinci code, it as well is is a really good read but to actually think that it's a threat? well, it's only a threat to the the one's w/ a weak faith...

Ok please dont hate me, but the way I know what have happend is that I go to the movies when they come out
from the other books I only know that the old guy die and from this last one that harry dies and the classmate married the guy from the other school and that the red hair guy stays in the school as a professor and he marrys a crazy blond lady, that the new chief is the guy with black hair that is a professor.
But after all, I JUST MADE all that up

paheli it's soooo funny, i'm doing the same thing....i've heard the NY times before the book came out released an article giving obvious hints about the ending of the 7th book...ever since then i'm completely avoiding all media!!!! i don't want them to spoil the ending...i'm reading the book now, trying to finish it as fast as i can...so i can get back to normal unexciting bland USMLE studying...i'm halfway done, i'm glad i have the book coz it's obvious that in a couple of weeks even if i completely avoid all media someone somwhere will mention the ending...i regret not bein able to study but if i waited till my exam got over for sure someone would have told me the ending...i'm now stopping my visits to all forums as well...hehe
how far have u gone w/ ure reading? im sure u're already finished...

enjoy it, sis. savor each word. enjoy on my behalf too. i should be getting my book tomorrow, if all goes well. till then, my suspense drags on. once i do get my hands on it though, as you said, life as i know it will stand still for a while, then resume once i've read the last word.

this actually might work, coz i kinda like ron more! am halfway through, propranolol. give me another 2 days. i've reserved about 3 hrs each night, began 2 nights ago. read last night till my eyes were burning, red and screaming for mercy!
