1. A 17-year-old girl is brought to the clinic by her mother. Girl lost 15 lbs in 3 months. The girl is athlete, 3 hours training daily. Menses are regular. Height 5'4'', weight 100 lbs. Has calluses and enamel erosion. A. Anorexia nervosa B. Eating disorder, not otherwise specified C. Bulimia nervosa 2. A 15-year old girl is brought to the clinic by her mother. Girl vomited in a bathroom twice last week. The girl is gymnast. Her height is 5', weight is 80 lbs. She has abrasions on back of her fingers, parotid glands are swollen. 3 months of amenorrhea. A. Anorexia nervosa B. Eating disorder, not otherwise specified C. Bulimia nervosa

case 1 = eating disorder nonspecific normal menses so anorexia not possible wtloss almost 15% of ideal so cannot be bullimia, also no history of binge . bullimiacs are never grossly underwt. case 2 = anorexia bwt < 15% amennorhea forced vomiting

I agree. 1. is B. there is low weight but menses are regular. 2. is anorexia.

I agree too, btw what is the treatment for eating disorder not specific.

hmmmmm.. hahahah that is a smart question dr in trouble, i think it must be psychoterapy of the insight kind and ssris cos ssris seem to be used for eating disorder. i really dont know justa wild guess. but i like the question.
