Hi: I‘ve been reading and posting in this forum for a long time but now I can give my experience. I had been studying for this exam for 8 months, I had studied everything recommended. Books: read KAPLAN NOTES , twice , first aid , goljan Rapid review for pathology (really good book), Goljan notes (It's almost like rapid review) , I saw Kaplan videos , I listened Goljan audios as well , and I did a final review with Kaplan medessentials + notes that I did from my question bank . Qbank: I did usmle world (3 month), Kaplan q bank 3 month, nbme form1, 2, 4, usmle rx, Kaplan Qbook Finally my exam was planned to be on June 26 but when I arrived to prometric center that day I couldn’t take it cause my name ( 2 last names ) didn’t match with my scheduling permit (I thought them It wasn’t the moment because something bad it’s going to happened that day)so I remain in calm (studying a few things and by that day I decided to bought usmlerx to made more questions in order to practiced my exam , I did 7 blocks each day like in the real exam), and after one week my name in the scheduling permit was changed and finally that day had arrived . It was finally yesterday. What can I say about the exam, I felt like I wasn’t studying anything (I felt really angry, bad , sad …..)in , the first 4 blocks, and the last one ,they was very hard, a lot of biochemistry , behavioral, anatomy ,neuroanatomy(a lot of CTscans asking which part ,where is the lesion and a lot , really a lot of very hard questions (l compare them with X PLANET , because I never had heard about them and also not known nothing about it ), there was a few questions that I really Know , and when I was sure that what I had to answer I felt so good , o god!!!!! but that feeling was so short !!!!!!, so I was so scared , at that moment I JUST , PRAY AND PRAY . I finish my exam with the sensation that I had a lot of questions wrong ( 90% I don’t know what I answer and only 10%sure). Now the worst part … to wait for the results, this is worse than the preparation, worse than the exam itself because what you do, It’s done and you can change it!!! and guys I really believe that god exist so I don’t Know what to expect, but I need a miracle after all. This is what I think I did my 10% I believe that god is going to do his 100%. Thanks to all for put the experiences here , I had read experiences like this before but I never thought that I was going to feel the same !!!!!!!! <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

don't stress, we all feel that way after the exam. waiting IS the worst part so do whatever you can to keep your mind busy, like buying a puppy!! my score comes out tonight, it's been a rough 6 weeks...so just pray and I am sure you did better than you expected. listen to no negativity. God bless my friend

Congrates, the most important thing is that you finished your step 1. As you know, post exam depression and anxiety are usuall problems, becoz your body doesn't secret much cortisol and other stress related hormones as before. Plz don't forget to post whenever you got your pass results. Goodluck!

hi, first, CONGRATS! preparing for the exam is really a lot of hard work. i mean i couldn't sleep peacefully for 6hours a day without feeling guilty afterwards, that i should have studied instead of sleeping. nor can i enjoy watching once in a while a tv show thats really nice without thinking is it right to do this. worst,i could not even spend some good/quality time (like going to the beach or watching a movie) without being paranoid bout the exam.. i always have my notes with me just in case i got stuck in the subway or traffic. what im trying to say is, finally you'll have your usual life back. you no longer exist in the outside world because you have to prepare for step 1. and believe me, and others saying that it is already a big step or a big leap just by finishing the exam. i took my exam last june27, and like yours, mine was difficult. and like you, after my exam i felt like i did not study at all for majority of the questions was so hard. ill get easy questions like less than 10 per block. but you know, you are again right. the exam is already out of our hands. we did our part, it now rest in the hands of God or Allah for our other brothers and sisters. guess this is where our faith comes in. so lets continue praying that we will be able to pass the exam. good luck to all of us awaiting for our results, also to you.
