I read a question where an otherwise healthy 4 year old baby presenting with a slight head tilt was found on exam to have a positive eye cover test;corneal light reflex however was normal. the question was,what is the next best step in managment? i thaught evaluate visual acuity,if decreased ,in addiotion to surgery we will cover the normal eye. the answer was to cover the normal eye and do surgery later( usmle world) ???????????explanation plz and source

It sound like pseudo strabismo. I remember that...there is deficit of rectus muscle and they try to cover the good eye to help to increase the strenght of muscle that is affected. if that fail then go to the surgery. Let me know if I'm wrong. thanks

I believe the Explanation clearly states that the diagnosis is strabismus and that the management is that stated in the post. So again does anyone have a solid answer supported by a relaible source

my mistake! I meant strabismus (not pseudostrabismus) and the treatment depends on severity. in wikipedia said if amblyopia is minor and detected early it can often be corrected with use of an eyepatch on the dominant eye Advanced strabismus is usually treated with a combination of eyeglasses or prisms, vision therapy, and surgery i'm not sure if that was what you are looking for.
