A 55 year old male is diagnosed with a non-small cell lung cancer and is given a chemotherapy regimen with multiple drugs. He has an initial response to the chemotherapy, with a decrease in size of the tumor. However, a year later the mass is increasing in size, and mediastinal lymph nodes appear enlarged on chest CT scan. A different chemotherapy regimen is employed, but has no effect. Which of the following mechanisms best explains these events: A) A sarcoma has arisen from the neoplastic cells B) The neoplastic cells have become well-differentiated C) P-glycoprotein levels have become elevated in the neoplastic cells D) There is viral binding of p53 protein in the neoplastic cells E) Telomerase activity is absent in the neoplastic cells Explaination please

A) A sarcoma has arisen from the neoplastic cells this is definitely a SMALL CELL LUNG CARCINOMA...it doesnt give rise to sarcoma B) The neoplastic cells have become well-differentiated well differentiation will not show as INCREASE in size.... C) P-glycoprotein levels have become elevated in the neoplastic cells ... you already know why D) There is viral binding of p53 protein in the neoplastic cells there has been no viral binding noted in this type of neoplasm...secondly...p53 binding hasnt been established in lung cancers... E) Telomerase activity is absent in the neoplastic cells telomerase activity is very high in these cells..
