azygous wrote: but my Q was sending incomplete application by sep 1st VS complete application by oct 1st... I still think complete application bu oct 1st would have better chances than incomlete by sep 1st... My answer is going to be the same - apply as soon as you can with as complete of an application as you can (yes, I said it again.....). If Oct 1 is the soonest that you can apply, then so be it. We don't seriously start looking at applications until mid-late September for interview selection. Good luck

hi. i'm relatively new to this forum and i like it here. well, i need an advice for a similar problem. i have taken step (94/226) and step 2cs (result expected in august). i am preparing for 2ck and plan to take it on aug 16th. with that and being an img, i guess i'll be ecfmg certified only by sept end (i guess so). by then my observership will also end. so should i apply after that with a complete application(around oct 1st) or do it on sep 1st with step 1 and cs result? also tell me is it okay if i send documents for scanning by aug 5th? please help me out..

Seriously - as a program coordinator/administrator with over 17 years of experience and working with ERAS since 1999 - it's the only answer that I can give: apply as soon as you can with as complete of an application as you can

BBB... I understand what you mean but my situation is a lil bit different... I´m applying for couple´s match, and my partners application is complete, he is ECFMG certified (has 240/97 on step 1, 249/99 on CK and CS passed)... I have left Step 2 CK and my Step 1 is 240/97 also and CS passed... I dont have a date for my CK yet, but hopefully I´ll take it late aug-mid september... but I dont want to hurt my partners application for not being complete... I am sorry if I am asking the same again, but having a partner makes it a bit different... any suggestion?

I might have to kick some serious booty with that question....... I'm just glad that it's FRIDAY (except where it might already be Saturday in the world)!

Hi BBB, It will be helpful if u can guide me on the following. Iam an img from India.I have completed General surgical training from India, and also a fellowship in Surgical Oncology from India .I have an observership experience in Liver transplant in Canada and about 19 publications.I am currentely doing research in Liver Tarnsplant. I could not give my steps in time , I expect to finish all the steps by mid october and hope ecfmg reports scores by mid november . My questions are 1. How late am i in applying? 2. How good or bad are my chances in getting an interview in the present scenario? 3. will it help if i applied with 1 score in september and later update it ?

1. Programs don't start downloading until September 1. 2. I don't know. 3. My comment is: Apply as early as you can with as complete of an application as you can.

To bbb, It is highly commendbale that u are volunteering to respond to all our queries and that to much swiftly. I understand ( as u mention in ur footnote ) that it is much too difficult in giving an exact assesement and that u are only responding based on ur vast experience. And though u do no less in cautioning people , the very moment one reads ur responses , there is a hope of a prediction as if u were sitting with 2 crystal balls and sseing all our futures in them( Kidding).I understand u are not here for the same. I again applaud such attempts which are no less than a service to confused and apprehesive minds in easing their anxiety, to whatever extent. It is a lesson to be learnt by us that in case any of us does find ourselves in a position which deals in an assesement residency applicants ( during and after residensy, ). That to come back to this forum help the cause Amkhit

Thanks mytime, thanks BBB Hahaha we took step 1 3 months appart and people tease me saying he told me all that was on the exam (I took it later)... thanks God everyone who has taken USMLE knows thats not possible :P. I'll definitely apply early, even incomplete... just hope to take the exam as soon as possible and probably keep the programs updated when I receive the score. Thanks and GL!
