I am not able to get ECFMG certified by 1sep..so i called up some places to check whats the best option i have..

many of the PC said that for a IMG it is best to apply to apply with a complete application i.e. ECFMG certificate rather than incomplete i.e. without ECFMG certificate.

I will be ecfmg certified by end of sep.. and asked them about aplying at that time, they said it is good time with a complete application rather than a incomplete on 1sep..

any different thoughts...as there is so much fuss about applying on 1sep..i was a bit scared initally but i m cool..

how do we become ecfmg certified?I mean do we have to send in any application for that?azygous or mytime can u help me please?(I am done with all the steps.)

when the step1 step 2CK and CS scores are reported on your ECFMG account ( i mean you pass these exams) + your college creditals have been verified by ECFMG, then ECFMG mails you the certificate in 1 week..

@ justice..

the reason i was bt scared that there is this thing going on that everyone should apply on sep1st..what the PC's told me that they recive huge amount of application, the prority is given to applications which are complete rather than a single high score...if u have step 3 thats very plus...

also best time is definatley sep1st...but i would say before oct 15th...as i know nothing major happens before nov 1st as it is the time when AMG's get the MSPE.

but a lot of place ..in north east which prefer IMG's and which have pretty heavy load of patients, they dont care about. Those are the ones which call for interview on sep 10th ( no kiddin)..well i guess i wount be applying to those places as i dont stand a chance..

By November 1st, I would say about 75% of my interview positions are filled.

bbb where are you located( i mean region).. and whats the IMG % you have in your positions..if you are filled 75% by nov 1st what about AMG's..

I start scheduling interview in early October - IMG and AMG. I have a good mix of IMGs and AMGs in my program.

guys....please do NOT be under the impression that applications are reviewed only after amgs get their mspe......its almost done in many programs by dat time...learnt it the hard way last year....

well i m going to apply from 20-30 sep...till then i will have ECFMG certificate..

@ prader willi..yes i know they start sheduling the interview before AMG's get there MSPE i.e. nov 1st..

but my Q was sending incomplete application by sep 1st VS complete application by oct 1st... I still think complete application bu oct 1st would have better chances than incomlete by sep 1st...

I will only probably get my CS score by october 10th... is is good to wait until then? My application is otherwise decent and I'd think that perhaps they'd wait til my result would come in.

I would say oct 10th is on the edge..its good may be not...

i m sending mine on sep 15th...rather than 1st with ECFMG certificate...

in my view...oct 10th would be OK...but a bit early would be great like sep 25-30

I've read a couple posts of people applying during the month of october and not getting many interview calls with people responding that it was a late time to apply. I think its just best to play it safe and send it out early. If they like what they see then october 10th shouldnt be too long for them to wait to find out whether or not I got a pass or fail on this exam..

that is right biggy....october 10 is late...period

if u hav the 2 scores nd given cs....apply....if progs interested , they will look out for the result.......if u already hav cs result...no point waiting for ecfmg certif unless some prog in ur list specifically asks for it.......

My answer is going to be the same - apply as soon as you can with as complete of an application as you can (yes, I said it again.....). If Oct 1 is the soonest that you can apply, then so be it. We don't seriously start looking at applications until mid-late September for interview selection.

hi. i'm relatively new to this forum and i like it here.
well, i need an advice for a similar problem. i have taken step (94/226) and step 2cs (result expected in august). i am preparing for 2ck and plan to take it on aug 16th.
with that and being an img, i guess i'll be ecfmg certified only by sept end (i guess so). by then my observership will also end. so should i apply after that with a complete application(around oct 1st) or do it on sep 1st with step 1 and cs result?
also tell me is it okay if i send documents for scanning by aug 5th?
please help me out..

Seriously - as a program coordinator/administrator with over 17 years of experience and working with ERAS since 1999 - it's the only answer that I can give:
