Hi all,
I wrote a few weeks ago about my terrible USMLE 1 experience. Late last week I trick the "oasis trick" (ie logging on, then trying to register for Step 1). It allowed me to re-register for Part 1!!!! :shock:
.... I was devastated.... :cry: okay, I shouldn't be so dramatic. I was disappointed though and had started contemplating my future, whether or not to rewrite, etc....
However, today I received my results. To my surprise, I passed!! Not stellar, 199/81 - Respectfully in the "less than average" range! Of course, being a psychiatry resident, my behavioural sciences were off the scale! I'm clearly not going to be an embriologist, a nutritionist or a gastroenterologist though, based on my scores.
Take home message - DON'T BELIEVE THE OASIS TRICK.

studntdoc. Congratulation, way to go, thanks for your advice , what was your experience before taking the test , what books did you read, study to pass this complex test, could you help.

I'm probably not the typical writer, as I completed medical school in 2000. Our medical school was also completely systems based, so it was pretty okay not to learn all of the basic sciences in detail.
Having written the test, I can honestly say that even given more time, I likely wouldn't have studied the things I got wrong - it's really hard to motivate to learn embriology when you're almost done your residency and you know it has absolutely no relation to anything you'll ever do.

hi...
Was your score reported before you tried to begin a new application? Apparently your results have to be reported to oasis before trying the trick.

Yep, scores were reported along with date sent out!
You just can't trust the oasis trick!

thank you so much you don't know what you did for me. i posted messega asking somebody about oasis trick nobody responded yet, i applied today and let me do it. it was updated n 17 of this moths. my world got all black, i am devastetad i lost my hope. now after reading your post i have little tiny hope.

i wish i could tell you yes mine was wrang but it wasn't i failed i got 73. keep praying maybe your prayres will be unsvered. i am very sorry that we all gonna go thru this terrible cycle.
