A man is affected with an X-linked dominant disorder. The penetrance of the disease genotype is 60%. Assuming that he mates with a genetically unaffected female, what is the probability that his daughters will be affected with this disorder?
a) 0%
b) 30%
c) 50%
d) 60%
e) 70%

Please explain me if possible..I didnt understand.. ; (

  #3

in this disorder both genders will express the disease. affected male will transmit disease to daughters (but not sons). .
all daughters will be affected. and if penetrance in this case is 60 %. prevalence for
sex linked dominan is 1%
probablity=60%

  #4

But how do you know that the prevalence for sex linked dominant is 1%?

dear folks can u please tell me if im only blind or dumb..confused i see in table very clearly written 'NO' for penetrance under sex linked dominant...does not that mean no penetarnce seen and yes 1% prevalnce is right..

  #15

KG u see right but what abt the qs itself says..the diease has 60% penetrance.

  #16

ok u mean we are to juz answer like hyptheticaly w/o knowing whys or do we raelly see thsi mode, like stuff..ok u mean here they testing juz if we know how to solve if given penetrance which actually is not seen in gievn dis ,thn why to refer table...sorry but its haunting me since long i dont question the question setter perhaps its something beyong books or atleast i know or understand..

couldnt it be a distraction to know if we raelly know penetarnce seen or not seen in such case..well i feel idont know anything..sad
