I am working full time in as a research fellow in Nephrology and I am going to apply for Psychiatry Residency 2009. Unfortunately my work place won't give me any time off to do a psych externship, so in order to increase my chances to get Psych Residency, I am also volunteering 2 full working days in Psychiatry Dept. in Research (the psych attending also allowing me to see pts with him-to observe him interviewing his own private pts). I am sure I will be able to get a great letter from the chief of Psych Please tell me your opinion if that would be sufficient in showing my interest and counting toward USCE (I am planning to continue to volunteer there for at least a year before applying).
