A 65 yr old female is scheduled for total abdominal hysterectomy.she is currently in good health ,but the surgeon is concerned becoz she has previous h/o pulmonary embolism 10 yrs ago .Which one of the following is most effective for prevention of another embolus?
a.subcutaneous heparin prophylaxis
b.full heparin therapy

Don't u think this is poorly worded question.
If you are asking about efficacy then full dose IV heparin is the most effective but it is less safe and not cost effective. I think your Q should be "what is the best choice?"

SO Subcutanious Hepari is the choice . Do u also agree with it mccee/ How about early ambulation?
