how about this -
2001 grad
currently "working" full time - doing research
can afford 3-4 hrs a day to study
probably retained 40% of the old subject
just started preparation
if i give step 1 in December 07 - what would be my score? raised eyebrow

I am done with my pre clinical studies and finished 1 year of clinical studies including a 4 month long clerckship in internal med. and a 2 month long clerckship in pediatrics.
i can barely remember anything from my basic sciences but i am pretty sure it's there and can be refreshed.

hope it'll help...
thanks for the responsible answer!!!

in which medschol r u studying??

will i depends on many factotrs

r u prepared ?? i mean did u gather all review books & material& MCQ u want 2 use??

when i started my prep i wasted some time deciding what is the best sources 2 use so b sure that u decided what 2 use ( and more importantly what not use)

by the way what review books r u studying??raised eyebrow

then make a study plan ( i might not b the best person 2 recommend that but we all know how important it is) so u know ur task for the next couple of weeks

stick 2 ur plan ( make sure from beggining that its realistic & doable)

though 12 hrs seems exhausted 2 me ( may b u used do that in medschool ha?)but u will take breaks right?

do as much mcq as possible

honestly no one can predict ur score even the diagnostic test will tell u that u score could be in range of ...-..... but no 1 can tell what ur score is gonna b

however, b4 taking the test check that u r on the safe side by taking assessment test & getting a pass score!!

u know what being strong mentally as u describe ur self=> u mean u r smart enough?? might not that much of contribution becuz as i assume being in nonUS medschool means u had studied in different style isnt it??

so but ur medschool stuff aside & think as f u r 1 of the ppl who put the questions 4 USMLE??

it mainly test integration & understanding & most importantly application of knowledge

but i suppose what u learned at medschool was may be simple recall or regurgitation

so think of USMLE way ok??

r u considering competitive specialty??what r u aiming 4??

f yes u absolutelt need a score in 90,, f not u also have 2 have above average score becuz we r IMG mad

thank you all 4 trying to help!
let's make it as simple as can be: I'm trying to find out wether a 6 weeks period of dedicated studying for 11-12 H/day - by the average foreign med student- can get him to the exam ready enough for a grade in the 90's.

I know that it depends on a lot of things - so assume near-optimal conditions...

thank you!

did u register? when r going 2 take ur xam?
