Hi guys.I am writing on this forum after a long time.I was not matched last year.I used the time from March onwards doing observerships and research.I have few questions 1-I am 98 grad(very old from all standards) and my scores are 84,90 and cs pass all in first attempts.I have 2 months in University programs(Med and Psychiatry) and 2 months with a private group.I have 2 abstracts and 2 submitted publications. My visa is J1 My question is do I really have any chance in this year.I may seem stupid asking this question but with lot of fresh grads and qualified docs from UK do I have any hope?I will love to go to Medicine but seems a remote shot for me-Can I try in Psychiatry People have been telling me that match is absolutely tough for old grads (whatever credentials we have).Pl help me here.I want to give a try but I had wasted my 2 years and lot of money on this affair.Any one pl

Hello!I have no experience with d match either as i am goin for this years match.Havin said that, i have been goin thru the forum and i think i have seem a couple of people who are old grads who also matched as well, probably wiht scores not even as good as yours.Plus the fact that u have worked to improve your resume will really help alot.I have seen this pattern with alot of people who are applying for the second time, they tend to get better responses. The important thing would b for you to apply early and wisely. Also very good LORs will b a plus.I feel u should b able to get IM,but apply to psych as u said and family med as a back up.I know the match canb a difficult process, but with prayers and God on our side, we will turn out victorious.Wishin u all the best.
