how do cns abnormalities like stroke,psychosis,tumor and pulmonary diseases like atelectasis pneumonia and pneumothorax lead to hyponatremia?

If i'm not mistaken, CNS problems lead to hyponatremia due to "Cerebral Salt wasting syndrome": http://www.emedicine.com/ped/topic354.htm As for pulmonary problems like pneumonia or atelectasis causing hyponatremia? Well that's news to me!

Any CNS or Lung pathology ( & I mean any, they just love this association) can lead to SIADH-->Euvolemic Hyponatremia d t abnormal naturesis ( Increased Urine Na )

SIADH leads to euvolemic hyponatremia.

In SAH 2 Complications - Vasospasma 7-10 dys later - Leading cause of Morbisidyt , hence give CBB i.e Nimodipine - Hyponatremia from SIADH & Cerebral Salt Wasting from Brain peptide Release Remeber that SIADH can be d/t CNS Problems
