WHY is it considered unethical to treat you own family members?

i think if u treat ur own family members then confidentiality will breach.

If u want to do something, do it today as there is no tomorrow.

also if you have emotions you will not think properly and if something bad happens you dont want to be the one.

Im not trying to say that you are not suppose to care for your patients

Impossible is nothing !

You cannot be objective since you are part of the family dynamic
There may be a power relationship between dr and pt, e.g., big brother to little brother

Totally agree. Even you try hard to be professional with your relatives, they wouldn't accept you as a professional. I tried once to say my mom that other medicine will be better for her shaking head
