to all the forum seniors....do we need SSN before we are eligible to apply for PTAL(california letter)...i heard that they require you to have the SSN...please reply

Same question here my friend.... I'm investigating on the issue so if I get answers I will let you know, but I contacted an immigration lawyer and he told me that in case it is strictly necessary you can get SSN without being a resident or citizen... I'll let you know... and if you know something please do the same for me. Take care and good luck!

hi GLO MD...i think the doubt irs right...we need SSN before we apply for PTAL.One of my friend s who is on b2 visa applied for it but they returned the application saying they need SSN.another of my friend who is a canadian citizen told the same story...if this is a badluck for us ..itz the same for the california state...they will never get the best of the doctors

Yeah my friend! It sucks!! But I think we can apply for SSN number that states that we don't have permission to work. If you can contact SSN office, the number is in their website.Let me know how it went. bye

i´m also looking for a possibility to get a ssn. but it looks like it won´t happen. if anyone knows how to get this damn thing please let me/us know!!!!

Hi guys, The MBC says SSN is mandatory. I tried getting SSn and SSn office told me that Iam not eligible for one(H4). But one of the analyst asked me to send the application without it and that they ll review my file but PTAL ll not be issued till i get one. If any one has anyothet input please let me know.i have submitted my application but not a response yet. Will keep u posted.
