Hi all,

I'm looking for a book which can treach me the basics of biochemistry (I think)... What i'm trying to do is getting a basic knowledge on how enzymes, proteins, petides, aminioacids etc. are working in the body, in order to gain a greater understanding to what venoms/toxins do when entering the human body. (This is biochemistry right?)

I have a keen interest in the venom of the venomous snakes, but most books and papers on the topic, is written in a language which is hard to understand if you dont have english as your native language and/or some knowledge about Biology.

I hope I made clear what i'm looking for, and someone can/will help me :o)

Kind Regards

hey. are you a medical student/doctor, preparing for the mles? coz most of the stuff we read and refer to is terribly biased to what the usmle requires us to know.

but do try out lippincitt's biochem. the words are a bit winding, but i really enjoy the diagrams in it. very clear and well presented.

good luck

Thanks, i'll have a look at it smiling face

No i'm not a doctor or med student. I'm currently working on a bachelor degree in Social Work and welfare. So this is far away from my own studies.
Venom is a hobby of mine. And learning the basics of Biochemistry will help me understanding publications on the effect of venom to the human body
