How long should I be spending on each subject for my first read. Right now I am doing about 8 hours of study a day. About 4 hours is spent on watching video while reading the notes and the other 4 hours are spent on re-reading and reviewing the notes. I have been planning on doing a subject per week while giving Physio and Path more time (about 2-2.5 weeks). Is this an efficient strategy?

Read the book first, then look at the video and you will understand better things that the video says and things that the book says, then read again the book. when you finish one subject do questios related to that subject.

Thank you gogeta. That is basically what I have been doing. I have been reading the material first (not really understanding it), then I watch the video while following along in the notes, and then I do another read of the material. After I finish each section, I try to do questions relating to the subject to reinforce the topics. After I completely finish the subject, I'm planning to do the Kaplan Assessment Exam for the subject to see where I stand. How many reads do you think I will need to get a really good understanding of this material?

the time u spent shoild depends on ur areas of weakness & strenghth

but some sunject needs 2 dedicate more time no matter what ur knowldge is=> physio, patho, pharma becuz those r heavily tested on xam

f u r img u might consider dedicating more time 4 behsci & biochem

however, anatomy (gross, hist, embryo)=> should take less time unless u r weak

but b careful neuroanatomy is more HY

i founf the method of listening 2 audio then reading more effecient

Is 6 months enough preparation time? I want to watch the videos more than once as they help me understand and grasp the material. Do you guys think this is a bad idea?

6 months is more than enough

3 reading r optimum

Okay, thanks Yoga. I have people telling me that maybe I should do 5-6 reads or something like that. I'm not sure of what to do because I am just embarking on this journey. I feel right now after one read of the material that the material is not sticking too well. Does it start coming together after the 2nd read? Also, when you say read, do you mean just reading through the material or do you mean like breaking it down, revising, reviewing, memorizing? Sorry if it sounds like a stupid question.

I dont know what 2 tell u becuz ppl r different there r ppl who read like they r scanning a page but the grasp every thing & on the other hand there ppl who will need to b more active 2 study like doing chart restating things in there own words explaining 2 others..etc & there r ppl in between those types they r not quick but they do not need hard effort to grasp text

so my sincere advice is b honest 2 ur self & assess ur type

& based on that u determine how many readings & how active u should b

do u have kaplan q bank? there is chapter on studying strategies u might benefit from GLnod

No, I don't have the Kaplan Qbank. I'm interested to see what they have to say about the study strategies. To get those study strategies, would I have to get a subscription to Qbank?
