oh yes. it is reserved for the blue eyed blond american male doctor. i applied for it last year but i was told i had a snow ball's chance in hell. ok. stats say less than 5% of the spaces were filled by IMG last year. those were candidates who were in either already in surgery residency or in a fellowship. so to improve your chances, go in for surgery or get a fellowship. all the best.

Hello!I just wanted to add something.I dont agree with the racial description of the orthopedic surgeon in the US.Personally i have an AMG friend, who is in orthopedics residency in one of the top places to possible do orhtopedics, and he happens to be African. What i feel is[i may b wrong though] is that U have less chances as an IMG than an AMG and AMGs dont necesarily mean white Americans.Alot of the residents whose pictures i see in many hospitals that are unfriendly to IMG's are actually people from all over the world, but what they all have in common is that they studied in the united states. And u find that American citizens who didnt school in the US are still branded "IMGs" So i dont think its a racial thing{even though we cant totally rule it out]

Well this post bring's us to the definitions of IMG's and FMG's..... An IMG is someone who's a foreign student studied in the US in a medical school. also someone who doesn't need a visa by that I mean a citizen. An FMG is a total freigner, like you and me who have stidied in their home country and coming here for a residency who need a visa and stuff. So if you see and IMG will always be prefered to an FMG, and most of the time what they look for is if you have SCHOOLED IN THE US, regardless of u r citizenship.

Look, if u have a GC or citizenship, then u can get anything in the US, but for a visa requiring applicant, things r very difficult
