Just a quick reminder since it's that time of year. When emailing a program, don't ask all the questions that you can find the answers to on FREIDA or the hospital web site - take the time and do your homework.

And a "few" questions is less than 4 - not 8.....(or 10 or 12 or more)

Hi,

I am an International Medical Graduate and am very much interested in applying to your program in the upcoming match. I have a few questions regarding your program requirements.

1. Does your program participate through ERAS?

2. What is the deadline to accept application?

3. Do you take International Medical Graduates in your program?

4. What are the minimum score requirements for USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK?

5. Do you have any cut off point for year of graduation?

6. Do you sponsor H1 or J1 visa? If you offer H1 visa, when is the last day to provide step 3 results?

7. Do you need US clinical experience (USCE)? If so do you consider
observership as USCE? Do you offer observership or externship?

8. Do you have fellowship opportunity in your hospital?

Please let me know the requirements of your program for this year's match. I'll be thankful

Hi BBB,

I was just wondering what did you reply back to this short 8 points e mail...cool

I agree with you that doing due homework before writing to a program is really important.

Hi,

Yhea I so agree with you on this one. I did a lot of research to find out program requirements and what not but there are very few websites that say how many FMG's are three in their program. Also websites like FREIDA dont show how many FMG's are there or if the program considers foreign applicant's so I guess for sometin like that it's ok to email but there are many co-ordinators who still dont respond...........rolling eyes

I sent my "canned" reply that everyone gets. I can't take the time to answer all the same questions over and over again.

Time - it's hard to reply to all the emails. Here I sit on my lunch and answering emails and checking in to make certain that you all are plying nice.....

Hey Not saying anytin bad here. I just see the point. I mean there are like probably 100's of guys sending you questions of things what they do and don't see on your website's. I was just wondering that it's usually the questions that you'd probably hear every year so why not update the website witht that or ask the FREIDa site's to include that kinda questionnare's for programs, coz well FMG applicant's are going to be there every year.
