ERYTHROBLASTOSIS not common in 1st pregnancy !.(erthroblastosis fetalis ..acondition devlops after marked and massive detruction of large no of red blood cells du to antibodies crossing from mother to her infant )it only occur after several pregnancies of .fetuses with (RH)-
leading to devlopment of VERY LARGE ANTIBODIES TITRE all crossing tto the fetus !causing destruction of large no of red bllod cells .and lead to erthroblastosis .
However therotically speaking it may occur in 1st pregnancy !after repeated mismatched blood trasfusion !.but that is not common at all.

I agree that is generally SHOULDN'T occur in the first pregnancy for the reasons fundoc stated... And would ONLY occur if for some reason there was a mixing of fetal maternal blood....

Can it occur after CVS? amniocentesis, or after D&C?
I'm asking because Rho-Gam is indicated 72 hours after these procedures.

. The case of erythroblastosis ..depends on the frequency of exposure of maternal blood to .fetal blood (i mean sure if they are diff group ) . we give RH -antibodies i n all the conditions usaid as there are mixing of fetal and maternal .blood so we give that mainly to prevent nenoatal juandice ..and ofcourse others serious forms like hyropsfetalis !!but still it cannot occur in first time !even if we didnot give !RH(-) antibodies !to the mother after abortion or d&C .AS IT WILL DEVELOPS ONLY SMALL AMOUNT OF ANTIBODIES WHICH MAY JUST CAUSE NEONATAL JUADICE.NOT HYDROPS FETALIS ..BUT If she several abortionsor D&C with fetuses of diff RH group without Ttaking RH(-)antibodies and her 4th or 5th pregnancy(for eg) was completed .in that case the baby may devlops hydrops fetalis .
