a g6pd deficient patient ( presenting wid intravascular hemolysis adn u dont know the cause yet and are working him up) wid a Hb of 9

do u transfuse him? is a hb of 9 so low to transfuse?

If thats an office presentation u order investigations n send pt home till the results are available. then schedule the appntment n treat according to the results of investigations. if the pt presents to ER and is having severe symptoms of anemia... like fatigue, SOB, any neurologic symptoms [I dont think these will happen with a HB of 9] if they happen then u can transfure PRBC. but usually this transfusion is based on SEVERITY of SYMPTOMS......... NOT ON HB LEVEL.
