can anyone tell me the answers to these
1. for how long do you need to continue the monthly penicillin prophylaxis following GABHstrep pharyngitis? till child turns 18 ?

2.what is the most common organism causing infective endocarditis in pt with prosthetic valve? organisms causing early inf? organisms causing late inf?

2nd question -

up to 2months - coagulase negative staphylococcus

after 2 months - sta.aureus.

if there is no carditis during initial attack of RH fever, you can stop giving prophylaxis at 21yrs of age.

if there was carditis without any residual valve damage, prophylaxis can be stopped at 10yrs after the episode.

if there was carditis with residual valve damage, the prophylaxis must be continued till 40yrs age or at 10yrs after the last episode.
