P2b, you, like others here with kids, spouses, homes, even jobs, have to focus on the numero uno priority--passing step 1! Not that US schools don't have students that are married, with kids, or whom are older, but the vast majority are young, in the early 20's, alone, with no other responsibility except their studies. As you may know, step 1 is taken at end of second year, requirement to pass on to third year and clinicals. US education geared toward that 24-year-old that has nothing better to do except study. So that puts everyone else in precarious place by default.
We don't have a choice but to put all else in our lives on hold for the months we need to prepare for passing step 1. You must have a strong support system in order. You must make sure that everyone is on the same page. You must keep negative people at a distance. You must be willing to sacrifice social and domestic obligations. It's all or nothing. If you can't commit, take the time you need until you can. Once you commit, don't stop, don't turn back, but most importantly, don't take the exam until you know you can pass.
I agree with your friend's advice, esp. the part to do questions. You can do 10 here, 25 there, block of 30 there. Focus on the concepts, integrate facts. Build up your # of q's as you further in your studies, you will see progress. I know, because it happened to me  So, are you ready? Yes? Ok, then, let's DO THIS!!!!

p2b , I was going to say but ED has say at all very very well.
Just to high light her here .......... once you start , do not stop or look back .
Also if want all, study & social etc, it will takes time, slow, but still do continuosly & be patient .
If you cut off others , only keep study & abit close family of yours , then speed up, will not taking long to reach the goal .
Stick to main books , main Qs instead of doing too many, but can still use references of alot of books.
MOST importly as ED said, DO NOT take the tests till you know you'll pass .

If want us all help support you , pl bring up your study plan, then post daily study plan or done in daily or every other days .

p2b , as I always say b4, on workday when on train, on outing with family, on home house jobs etc, even at meal time has audio Golj , all kap lecture or web prep audio with favorite music on .
Do q , FA if time short . Then study on week end too , atleast 1 or 1.5 day .
I also work pT, so when so busy day might not do any , but at least listen papi on the way to & back from work. At work , have mental free time.. keep your mind busy with ......do recall, think some study, facts , diagram, patho slides etc or plan had done, to do etc.
See so many minute, sec can be useful for study, then also at shopping , listen to your audio too.
But if driving self, better not listen on head phone, do it on your ipod radio transmitter , invest it for study & safe driving . or just pop in dvd player of LN, listen to it without watching it , if you are driving big van with dvd etc fancy pency equipt car .

By the way, are you a pediatrician b4 ?? , I also used to be v. busy at big shot teaching ped hospital with Dengue season . I miss those time to save life, especially , now with flood & Dengue outbreak there , now there is with less well trained Drs, short of money, lack of accessible IV Fluid bags etc back there now.
So if I were already establish, imagine can have enough time, money, as MD to call for help, with money & went back there to help saving more life .
Keep the dream alive & do make the dream comes through sis ,

Hi P2B--all have said it beautifully..juz few lines to add on,
1.Calm down,its normal what u r going thru..
2.Talk to your husband regarding your dream,how he can help u in daily chaos and morla support.
3.Take one day off from study/family life/rambling and search here at exam experience forum and read thru,for the female fellows who had same ramblings but reached where they wanted to be..
4.squeeze every minute from ur daily life,u can to do study,like edie always says,in the form of some mini memory cards,and take them with u where ever u go,better if u make urself but if again time u worry about,not a problema,there are many free cards,for some subjects floating around for free,juz search them,this way crammable subjects will be done...
5.spend few days here and read mytime,shwe,unique,and many more all are mothers of naughty kidss im sure highly inspiring,if they can,u or we can too,target(a single parent,) talk to her at her journal, a highly inspiring lady as well,
6..See around all u will see is juz motivation,inspiration and affection love,care and all unconditional..
7.find real passion in yourself,inner drive will let u reach for the stars u wanna touch,if no,thn sorry dear NO ONE CAN HELP U
when there is a will there is a way....wake up and find ur way..this is the time...
warnning-->DONT just read as stories,grab ur pick up line and move on...like penny penny make many..ur small daily efforts will take u to the place u dream for...

P2B, my dear, I'm exactly like u having dificalty to manage my prep along with everything else, but slowly i'm getting back again to efficient studying AND these posts r helping me a big time, thanks to you & yr friends...
I used to have a dream of becoming a pediatrician too but don't think its suitable 4 me as i'm not that strong and v. sensitive esp with sick kids BUT YOU CAN DO IT YOU CAN DO IT YOU CAN DO IT YOU CAN DO IT YOU CAN DO IT YOU CAN DO IT......................................................................... .....................................................................
BOTH the exam & the job so my friend plz don't give up, be serios about it, yr time is so precious, do not think about the exam itself or that u have to sit continiously but enjoy it, love it actually fall in love with all the learning, the more u get into it, the more enjoyable it will. Do not get upset with yr self like me when u have a few poor prep days but get yrself together and remind yrself why u want to be a pediatrician. it is not impossible as it seem, so mannnnnnny people just like us have done it, so why not us?
So my freind lets start again and we wont disappoint these decent Doctors who have put their time and knowledge just to help us.... on naxt post plz write how well u studied & if it wasn't the case well on the next after that. That is my plan anyway.

To all my forum friends-Thanx for all the advice u've given me.I really appreciate it.I'm gonna put it all in one place ,make a print out & keep it in front of me to inspire me everytime I feel low.I have also decided to create a set place for study.I am not a library person.I need to feel comfortable ,not conscious.So I have set up a room just for studying.A place where when I am inside ,everyone knows its my time ,do not disturb.Even my sleep times were very erratic.No schedule at all.So some days I used to be very tired some days I just wasted coz I had no plan.Like med doc said make long term plans ,but at the same time plan for the next 2 hrs and keep track of my progress.And so guys,I'm gonna do it.I'm gonna achieve my dreaMS.aND FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART i THANK U GUYS FOR HELPING ME OUT. Tomorrow is a new day ,a fresh new start.Its a work day,but that shall not stop me from reading.I will do it & by Gods grace I will come out with flying colors.
