During a 1-year period, a physician practicing medicine in the US would be most likely to encounter a pt suffering from which of the following mandatory reportable diseases?

(A) Hepatitis A

(B) Lyme disease

(C) HIV/AIDS

(D) chicken pox

(E) syphilis

I would say something like HIV/AIDS first, then Hepatitis A second. Chicken pox as far as I know is eradicated and can only be found in some labs and its outbrake can only be the work of terrorists, i.e. not very likely.

What you say?

But the rank order given to chicken pox comes before AIDS.

But q comes when they ask most likely, does that mean incidencewise?

then,we have to look for incidence of each disease.

looked here,
http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm5453a1...

incidence of
vericella[chicken pox] in the year 2005-32,242
aids-41,120--------------------------------------------->Ans.

And,
Hepatitis A-4,488[Hep B is over 5,000]

Lyme disease-23,305

syphilis-all stages is quite a big no.-33,...

I hav 2006 edition, the list is the same ;what I think is this q asks which case r u likely to see which would depend on the disease that is more common so incidencewise it will be HIV/AIDS.
But how do they expect you to know the incidence?confused
