I was trying to solve the usmle cd ccs cases after reading the ccs feedback

1.Now in the feedback they dont mention stuff abt discharging the patient home/to another setting and follow up visits. So does it mean that we dont need to worry abt doing that.

2.Also once u see the screen which says "patient better",does it mean u have done the right things to pass in the case.

3.Finally in all these cases what is the ideal protocol once the patient is fine....How do u discharge the patient and set up follow up visits as there is no option for follow up

4.For eg when do u send the patient home in the pneumothorax case? .Once the Itp patient has stabilised and u do cbcs and platelets are normal....what do u do after that......do u have to arrange follow up visits

5.what is thr right protocol to finish these cases after the initial management.Plz advise as i am getting confused with what i need to do once the patient gets better

hello
  1. 1. u have to manage the patient in totality from admission to discharge to followup
  2. patient can get better even if u miss out on doing ideal steps sometimes,,so doesnt mean ur scoring,,,,eg in a case of malignant hypertension u mite give nitroprusside,,, and the patient wil feel better,,,but if you havent ruled out stroke by doing ct prior to giving nitropruside,,,,,,u ve lost lots of points.sometimes patient will get worse even if ur doing the optimal things,,,,,
  3. all these things are subjective and vary from case to case, there is no one rite answer
  4. pneumothorax,, think logically,,,,,atleast 4 to 7 days in a case of tension pneumothorax depending on how well the patient is doing and the xray s are normalising,,,arrange follow up in 4 to 7 days again coz its a pretty big thing
  5. there is no rite protocol, varies from case to case,,,,,read uw ccs or steps123 ccs cases to get a better idee

hope this helps
disclaimer- all this info is to the best of what i ve learnt so far in ccs prep, please don t take it as final ,,,
people please correct or add accordingly

thank you very much move along...any idea how steps 123 qbank and ccs are.....how are the qs and how many ccs cases

the qbank is a little substandard but i felt its better than kaplan qbank
the ccs cases rocks
though u still have to practise usmlecd ,,,,,,

u can look at the demo questions of steps 123,,,,and kaplan qbank ,,,,and choose accordingly
of course there is no replacement for usmleworld,,,,,,USMLEWORLD RULES!!!!!
.

disclaimer---again all these are personal opinions,,,,,corrections are welcome
