Some LOR queries....Any forum seniors???

Hello all....

Since all ppl going for Match 2008 are getting involved...i thought this must be the correct time to get a few of my queries clarified..

1) Since i took part in last match, can i use the old LORs?????....they were taken in sept-oct last year so dat makes about 9-10 months old....coz it will be very difficult to get them updated

2) to apply on sept 1, all the Lors need to be sent in early Aug. If i get a us lor later , say by august end, can i assign it to the programs at that time? I will hav applied to all progs earlier nd they will be having the earlier ones....Then how can i show the programs that I have a new one? Shpuld I scan and email it to all the PD/PCs????

wud really appreciate it if u cud clarify these things..thanx

i have the same confusion, HOW TO SEND THE OLD LORS?they are just on papers ,no sealed envelop and no cover page. will the ERAS accept and scan them ?

someone plz anwer.

For old LoRs. Some programs require the LoRs should be within the last 12 months. For these programs, these LoRs need to be updated for sure. For the others, no idea.

Also for the later new LoRs, I remember one program coordinater answered me that they only review an application kit once; if any new documents are added to it, they can't garantee to give it a second review. However, another program states on their website they will accept more new documents by mail so long as they are companied by the ERAS ID number.

in one word, LoR issue varies in different programs.

1- yes you can use old LORs

2- yes you can assign later as well.

Prader Willi,
You can always replace an old LOR with a new one. As and when you get a new LOR you can mail it to all the programs where you applied to.Alternatively as most programs require 3 LORs , you may submit three and send the 4th later.Each time the PA/PD accesses ERAS this will be shown as updated document status.

Be warned that this does not mean that a PD will review an application again.

i just joined a hosptl fr research...i cannot possibly ask fr a reco rt now...as the person hardly knows me...and if the pd doesnt review the application later...is thr any use of asking fr th elor later.....ws thinking of asking him in mid aug....

thanx kurt goedel for ur opinion...cleeared my doubts..

As BBB rightly mentioned...even though the eras postoffice wud show that my application is updates,,,,it really is upto the program/pd/pc to download it and review it again..so its jus emailing them and hoping that it gets seen by the people that matter!!!
