I registered for the CS recently but still haven't got my scheduling permit..! There are only three or four dates available in 2007, which obviously concerns me. I don't have a preference for a testing site but am desperate to get a date before the end of the year... How often do CS spots open up? Will ECFMG add more spots with increasing demand? And how often to people cancel and open up spots? Dammit, this is frustrating. This is the last component of my application - other than this I am ready to apply via ERAS. Some help or knowledge would be much appreciated, for those who have gone through this process already.

Hmmm... I notice that there is a different scheduling 'preview' window for unregistered people and those who have registered already. How accurate is the scheduler? Is the pilot email program accurate and timely as well? Just a second ago I saw a date open up for August... then it disappeared within five minutes. Crazy!

what i can tell u is that dates always become available,so the most important thing is for u to be ready to take ur exam at the drop of a hat.A friend of mine had his flight to houston cancelled on the night before his exam, and he was lucky enough to reschedule his appointment for philadelphia the next day[which is where he was stranded ]so dont loose too much sleep over that.It might b abit more difficult around sept -dec anyway cos people are trying to do exams asap so they can match, but then again, its not impossible.Wishin u luck

i am looking for a date before the end of this year too. no test center preference at all. as kykie said in the post earlier, and so did my seniors; that one shouldnt worry too much about it as long as the prep is complete. hope all the hopefuls get their exams scheduled at a good time. question: ECFMG says they increase exam slots at times. if anyone can tell when and how that happens, it'd be great.

kykie, Thanks much for your support. EVen though I worried like hell, it worked out - I got a date in December for now, and actively looking for an earlier date so my certificate is complete earlier rather than later. You were right, the CS scheduling program opens up multiple spots every day, so with a little patience most people who have gotten their scheduling permit soon should be able to get a spot before the end of the year... Also some people cancel their CS at the last minute or postpone it indefinitely so those spots open up as well. Good luck to everyone looking for CS spots! So far I have noticed Philly being the most crowded but the other sites have good turnover.
