pituitary has two origins of development: outpouching from the floor of the primitive pharynx called rathke's pouch forming the adenohypophysis.
second is from the diencephalon that is an outpouching of the hypothalamus forming the neurohypophysis. hence its true some portion of the pituitary has origin from the diecephalon
