Things get better? I sure hope so, because right now I have a "terrible two" and a 5 month old, I'm waiting on my CK score (hopefully OASIS will update tonight), am preparing for my CS and, in August, my maternity leave is over and I have to finish up my last few months of med school! Oh, and I'm penniless.

Wow I admire you girls! So chiqui, you found time to study for CK with a newborn??? Thats hope for me, I was thinking about taking it before having baby, no matter how, but I guess I wont because I´m starting to have contractions (I am not due until a month yet, but it seems she will be early) and I still have a lot to study and havent done questions yet. Would you mind telling me how you did it? How did u manage to study with a newborn??? Wow, thanks and good luck! let us know how it went with your score!!! gringrin

Between 3 years old and teenagers, there's a wonderful 10 year period when they don't wear diapers and don't think they hate you and that all the moms in the world are better and cooler than you (yet). That's what I am going through, it is the most peaceful time with kids ever! They are a good company and your life is full of hugs and kisses and smiles and "I love you's". The only thing is that you say the same thing over and over and over and over, and most of the times it is the same thing your mother used to tell you (you can even hear her voice). They never get it at the first time. But you still have some control, and know where they are, with whom and doing what.

That's the best period to endure the residency, in my opinion.nod

Allymd - this may be TMI for many, but the way to study with a newborn is to breastfeed. You can study pretty well with the baby latched on. During the first two or three months, between the time he is asleep and the time he is feeding, you can find alot of time to study. After that I found they were alert too many hours to study enough, so your game plan should involve taking that exam before the baby is four months old.

OASIS was just updated. Looks like I passed! (Exam was june 28th).

Congrats Arlete! I'll be on pins and needles until that envelope gets here, but am feeling all kinds of relief already. Next week I take the CS review course, and August 6th I take the CS, so there is no rest for the weary.

arlete,

your very first post in this thread, where you spoke of only horses and no zebras, is a very important pointer to the score you received. i mean, every thread on this forum, well almost all, speak of weird things that were asked, lack of time, dilemma over the choice of answers and all such stuff. but you seem to have had a preparation that threw all such problems out of the window. congrats on such a nice approach the exam.

just one question. what was the percent of quesions you were sure you got right even when you were closing each block,

jaydoc:

I felt pretty good about around 70, 80% of the questions. I don't know, maybe I was really lucky to get the questions I got, maybe the fact that I worked as a cardiologist and internist for 8 years made me see some zebras as horses (EKGs are horses for me, no matter how complicated, for obvious reasons). I was expecting at least a 90 score. But I've seen people coming out of the test thinking they did not pass, and getting 99.

Like I said, many questions discussed in this forum helped me, specially the ones I answered wrong at the beginning, and then somebody taught me right. A lot of times you read and read and have no idea how important it is, because the information comes, one after another, and turns into a monotone piling up. Then somebody challenge you, and you want to be right, then you try to find that little detail you did not pay attention to, and realize you thought you knew, but you didn't. That's what happened to me around here, I am glad I visited this forum every day during my preparation (even if it was not always good for my ego, LOL).
