uw says metronidazole should be avoided in the first trimester, but kaplan says it is safe in the first trimester

say we have a woman with trichomaonas vagginalis infection, and she is in first trimester

how would u trreat her???

well uptodate says that it is class b, ie tested on animals, but not on humans, but it is teratogenic in rats hence it better be avoided in the first trimester,

so in the first trimester go for clindamycin
