ssrpk i know u are a guy. a mistake on my part in the above post i must be very sleepy when i typed the above post.

  #102

Its been quiet for me also..applied to >90 general and 23 plastics..so far I have had 3 rejections (UNC, OSU, Good Samaritan in AZ) and have received 2 interviews...University of Buffalo and Stamford Hospital in CT.

Is Mid October supposed to be the key date?

  #103

i wonder y there is so much silence in surgery when all other specilty forum are beeping with calls.

  #104

This is ridiculous. I mean there are people with all sorts of creds here and i wonder what programs are thinking. Considering attrition rate among GS programs is high [ have heard 30% or so numbers] and almost all of them are American grads disillusioned by the workload and lifestyle, I wonder why programs still avoid international grads as far as possible. This hubris is irritating sometimes. Anyways best of luck to all those who applied.

yeah. that is my thinking exactly. it appears that the surgeons are not choosing the right candidates. i also heard of the 30% drop-out rate. amazing. anyway, my fingers are still crossed.....no news is good news.

i think it's early. My resident pals tell me that they mainly come in nov to mid dec for international grads.

Is that so, any idea why is it that IMG's get calls so late in the year or is it the same time as always to be getting calls ???

I dont have anything to say to them for giving their grads first pref but if they are calling them first and us later on how does that make sense. it's like they are adopting two standards for their sopts, isn't it

Hope thats the case

hey guys we need to be circumspect. remember we are foreigners in this country. the citizens need to get first preference in their country. how would you feel if the tables were turned? this is america. there is a lot of 'leftover'. our turn is coming and we will be filled too.

This would affect your ECFMG certification.......some programs require that the candidate be ECFMG certifiied at the time of application whilst others require the certification only at the time of match. If you have applied to the former programs, it might help to clarify the situation with the PD/coordinator. With your stellar scores in other steps, chances are they may make an exception. In the meantime, don't lose hope and schedule CS at the earliest avlbl date.

Best of luck w/the match!
